UN Global Compact - EcoPlanet Bamboo Group Commitment
1st June 2016
The United Nations Global Compact is a voluntary initiative based on CEO commitments to implement universal sustainability principles and to undertake steps to support UN goals.
EcoPlanet Bamboo's CEO Troy Wiseman has signed the UN Global Compact commitment, detailing EcoPlanet Bamboo's commitment to supporting these goals and achieving progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
The UN Global Compact is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative. It highlights a call to companies and their leadership to align corporate strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and take actions that advance societal goals.
The compact diverts from the traditional attitude that capitalism is the root of environmental and social problems and instead embraces the new generation concept that business can be harnessed as a force for good and for the betterment of the world. By committing to sustainability, CEO's and the businesses they lead can take shared responsibility for achieving a better world.
EcoPlanet Bamboo was founded on principals of environmental and social sustainability and on CEO Troy Wiseman's belief in conscious capitalism. With a long history of entreprenurism and contribution to alleviating poverty both through business and philanthropic means, Troy Wiseman's heart for people has been evident through a long line of successful companies. The extension of utilizing business to target key environmental issues of global concern has been recognized through his appointment to the Earth Day Network's Board of Directors.
EcoPlanet Bamboo's sustainable bamboo plantation operations in Nicaragua have been recognized and showcased by the World Bank as being an example of "When Business is Good for the Environment".< Back to news < Download article
