Earth Day Network is the world's largest environmental movement. EcoPlanet Bamboo CEO & Co-Founder Troy Wiseman joins its Board of Directors.
The first Earth Day, on April 22nd 1970, activated 20 million Americans from all walks of life and has been widely accredited for launching the modern environmental movement. The passage of the landmark Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and many other groundbreaking environmental laws soon followed. Twenty years later, Earth Day went global, mobilizing 200 million people in 141 countries and lifting environmental issues onto the world stage. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world.
Entrepreneur Troy Wiseman, EcoPlanet Bamboo CEO & Co-Founder has received considerable recognition for his contribution to positive social impact of disenfranchised children and communities, both in the United States and across the developing world. These achievements, which span both the private (through a long string of successful businesses with a bottom line of giving back) and non profit sectors (through his co-founding of World Orphans) were acknowledged through his being awarded a prestigous TOYA Award which recognize ten outstanding young americans each year for their contribution to society.
Through Co-Founding EcoPlanet Bamboo Troy Wiseman expanded this positive impact to include the environment, a venture that has led to significant investments in the development of sustainable bamboo plantations around the world. EcoPlanet Bamboo's mission combines the provision of a sustainable alternative fiber for manufacturing industries that still rely on the harvesting of natural forests for their fiber needs and restoring degraded lands, while having a long term impact on surrounding communities, providing them with job security, improved access to healthcare and education, and opportunities to rise.
Troy Wiseman's appointment to the Earth Day Network's Board of Directors provides a platform on which to expand EcoPlanet Bamboo's investments, achievements and assist in the provision of environmental education and climate change literarcy to underserved populations globally, among other key missions.< Back to news < Download article
