Regenerating a Local Economy
5th April 2013
The Bathurst area of South African's Eastern Cape has suffered considerable economic decline over the past decade due to hurdles faced by the agricultural industry.
Over the past 18 months EcoPlanet Bamboo has injected over $1m into the local economy and created over 65 permanent jobs.
These projects are being showcased at the Bathurst Agricultural Show this weekend, an opportunity for the local and extended community to showcase projects and innovative developments. The show represents an exciting opportunity for EcoPlanet Bamboo to provide awareness on the benefits of bamboo, both from the environmental benefits of sustainable bamboo plantations and the end product of bamboo activated carbon - a product vital for the environmental regeneration of South Africa's mining industry.
