National Forest Plantation Strategy - Annual Report
14th April 2015
EcoPlanet Bamboo West Africa's commercial nursery in Ghana has been featured by the Ghana Forestry Commission for its uniqueness, its professionalism, and the positive impact that this part of the company's operations are already having in the Agogo - Ashanti region. Most recently, the nursery was featured on the front cover of the National Forest Plantation Development Programme 2014 Annual Report.
The EcoPlanet Bamboo West Africa nursery covers approximately 1 hectare in area and has the capacity to hold approximately 1 million bamboo seedlings at any point in time. Because EcoPlanet Bamboo is utilizing seed for its Ghana based plantations, specialized germination tunnels are also in place, to provide the fragile seedlings a temperature and humidity controlled environment within the first few weeks of their lives.
The nursery represents the largest commercial nursery in Ghana, and the largest dedicated bamboo nursery globally, outside of China.
EcoPlanet Bamboo West Africa's commitment to restore more than 10,000 hectares of highly degraded lands in Ghana, in partnership with the Ghana Forestry Commission, represents the influx of significant investment into the country.< Back to news < Download article
