Initiative 20x20 convened an unprecedented number of government officials, financiers and technical experts at our annual meeting in Colombia. Throughout the year, our partners hosted trainings, courses and webinars on landscape restoration. We announced new partnerships and projects and welcomed new financial partners. A number of countries and partners announced inspiring progress towards meeting their restoration goals.

EcoPlanet Bamboo has been an active participant of Initiative 20x20, with our bamboo based forest landscape restoration efforts on Nicaragua's Atlantic Coast having received recognition for their contribution to the country's restoration commitments. Our latest developments, now that our certified bamboo plantations are rapidly approaching maturity, are focused towards the development of innovative technology and associated manufacturing mechanisms, to ensure that not only do these projects contribute to forest landscape restoration, but also to reducing deforestation.

These efforts have been showcased within the Initiative 20x20 summer 2017 newsletter, and can be read here.

Initiative 20x20 is a country-led effort to change the dynamics of land degradation in Latin America and the Caribbean. It has a short term goal of bringing 20 million ha into restoration in the region by the year 2020.
