EcoPlanet Bamboo has completed successful verification of 2014 vintage VCUs and doubled the validation of its carbon assets to 1.5 million tons.

EcoPlanet Bamboo's Central American reforestation project was validated to the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and gold level Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance (CCBA) certification standards in late 2012. This milestone made the company the first to successfully achieve carbon recognition for bamboo, credits which were represent a triple certification.

The project has now successfully verified credits from its first monitoring period, representing the atmospheric carbon dioxide sequestered by the rapidly maturing bamboo plantation during its first 3 years of growth.

In addition to the successful verification, carried out by the Rainforest Alliance, EcoPlanet Bamboo has incorporated an additional 1,126 hectares of bamboo reforestation activities into the validated project. This inclusion increases EcoPlanet Bamboo's carbon assets in Central America to a total of 1,536,666 tons of carbon dioxide removals over the project's 20 year life.

EcoPlanet Bamboo is committed to contributing to the fight against global climate change within all of its reforestation activities, and to addressing global drivers of deforestation through the provision of a sustainable and certified alternative fiber to timber manufacturing entities globally.
