EcoPlanet Bamboo Celebrates World Bamboo Day

World Bamboo Day is an annual event aimed at increasing awareness on the positive impacts of bamboo.
To commemorate World Bamboo Day, EcoPlanet Bamboo Southern Africa is hosting a bamboo and culture day with its staff and community members at Kowie Bamboo Farm on Friday, 20 September 2013. EcoPlanet Bamboo staff will spend the afternoon dancing, singing and performing dramas. Following these activities, EcoPlanet Bamboo Southern Africa staff will give a presentation to increase awareness on bamboo and share its recent activities and impacts. More than eighty people are expected to attend the event.
EcoPlanet Bamboo Central America plans to host lunch parties with trivia games on bamboo on each of its three Nicaraguan bamboo plantations to celebrate World Bamboo Day on 20 September 2013. Attendees will participate in a raffle drawing for EcoPlanet Bamboo t-shirts, hats, and other prizes. EcoPlanet Bamboo Central America staff will also give a presentation to increase awareness on bamboo and share its recent activities and impacts at the events.
World Bamboo Day is celebrated around the world on September 18th and throughout the week. The Thai Royal Forest Department declared the First World Bamboo Day in Bangkok, Thailand, during the 8th World Bamboo Congress in 2009, to increase awareness of bamboo globally.
