EcoPlanet Bamboo at Earth Day 2017
25th April 2017
Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day events in more than 193 countries are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, representing the largest global environmental movement in history.
EcoPlanet Bamboo's CEO, Troy Wiseman sits on the Earth Day Network Board of Directors and works closely with the EDN Network to bring environmental literacy and environmental education to children and youth across the globe.
This Earth Day, 2017, standing up for the environmental agenda was more important than ever before. In Washington DC the day's events included series of educational talks by the top environmental agencies and organizations in the country, as well as talks by global leaders, including Christiana Figueres who serves as Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC from 2010-2016, representatives from NASA, and of course many artists and bands standing up for our environment.
EcoPlanet Bamboo has promoted the role of the private sector in environmental advocacy since the company's inception, and this work has been featured by the World Bank, the UN's Food and Agricultural Organization and others. Our mission continues to be built around the concept of conscious capitalism and the belief that - if done correctly - the private sector has a critical role to play as stewards of our environment.
