Founded in 1992 and with more than 25 years of experience, Advanced Pulp & Paper Machinery Ltd. represents a key technology partner for EcoPlanet Bamboo.

The company was originally created in China, focused on emerging technologies for recycled paper. During the early 1990s in China paper markets were growing, and the country was increasing its annual imports of pulp board and later raw materials. Witnessing this trend, Chief Designer, and the Founder of the company, Mr. Fengning Li turned his engineering abilities towards pulping technologies for alternative fibers, including rice straw, wheat straw and bamboo.

Mr. Li's work focused on two priority areas:

(1) Technologies that allows for a zero waste water discharge and reduction of water consumption;

(2) Technologies that allowed for an increase in the yield from non wood fibers, while also increasing quality.

Over the years, Mr. Li's work and expertise resulted in a number of innovative technologies, including the horizontal continuous biochemical reactor, the twi wire pulp washer, integrated multi-functional screens, and multiple options for the treatment and conversion of traditional waste streams.

Many of these technologies are patented, and indeed utilized by some of the biggest names in the pulp & paper industry. However, Chinese patent protection laws are severely lacking and in 2016 Mr. Li made the decision to no longer focus his attention on China. Holding dual nationality in Canada, he formed Advanced Pulp & Paper Machinery Ltd. as a Canadian - Chinese joint venture, with the mission and vision to disrupt global paper industries through the development of a series of distributed, closed loop manufacturing facilities developed in conjunction with non wood fiber feedstock resources. As part of Mr. Li's vision to move away from domestic manufacturing and into international markets, Mr. Mark Nash, a seasoned Canadian executive joined the team as CEO, and a new headquarters in Richmond, Canada was initiated.

AP&P Machinery Ltd. works closely with Qilu University of Technology, which has state of the art laboratories for pulp & paper science, and carries out continuous R&D on the improvement of these technologies. In addition, AP&P Machinery Ltd. operates three ISO 9001 manufacturing and assembly facilities in the Province of Shandong in China.

Earlier this year EcoPlanet Bamboo Chief Operating Officer Camille Rebelo spent time in Jinan Province with Mr. Fengning Li, Neil Li, the Vice President of Research & Development, and the President of Qilu University's Papermaking Department. The shared visions of a non wood fiber, distributed industry to supply key growing markets and ensure a clean paper product from field all the way along the supply chain has led to a strong strategic partnership between these companies.
